Curvy Ladies take TV & the Big Screen by storm!

Isn’t it awesome to see wonderful curvy actresses take the media by storm? I love seeing talented, funny and beautiful women getting to show off their curves and in major ways.
Brooke Elliot in "Drop Dead Diva" on Lifetime
One of my favorite shows is “Drop Dead Diva.”  Brooke Elliot is just awesome!  She really knows how to rock her curves.  The actress started on Broadway and starred in shows such as “The Pirate Queen,” an original musical from the writers of “Les Miserables” and “Miss Saigon.”  Elliot also starred in the Broadway musical “Taboo,” composed by Boy George and produced by Rosie O’Donnell.  She toured nationally with “Beauty and the Beast” and was in the original cast of one of my favorites, “Wicked.”  Brooke Elliot is now the star of Lifetime Television’s hit series “Drop Dead Diva” which airs on Sunday nights at 9:00pm. Elliot plays a smart and sassy attorney named Jane Bingum.  Her character gets to explore the role of a self absorbed, friendly wannabe model that is trapped inside the body of a brilliant, considerate and shy attorney.  The personality contrast comes from a “heavenly mix-up.”  The show is now in it’s third season.  Elliot gets to occasionally showcase her amazing voice in some of their fun musical episodes!

Melissa McCarthy in "Mike & Molly" on CBS
Another wonderful actress taking the industry by storm is Melissa McCarthy, who has been in the business for years.  She has been a favorite of mine ever since she played Sookie St. James, on the wonderfully witty television series, Gilmore Girls.  Now she steals the show as Megan, in the outrageously funny box office hit, Bridesmaids.  McCarthy also plays Molly Flynn on the CBS hit comedy called Mike and Molly, which airs on Monday nights at 9:30pm.  The couple meets at a weight loss support group and viewers have gotten to watch their love blossom as they go through those beginning stages of a relationship
Rebel Wilson in "Bridesmaids" the movie
Another curvy actress who stole the show in Bridesmaids is Australia’s very own, Rebel Wilson.  I actually had the pleasure of meeting her briefly on the Radford Lot in Studio City.  She was on her way to an audition.  Wilson plays the sister of Kristen Wiig’s roommate.  Her dry sense of humor and delivery left the audience in tears from all the laughter.
These are just three of the many curvy women lighting up the screen in the entertainment industry.  Their fun, flirty and fantastic roles in major TV shows and epic movies are shaping the media.  Bringing attention to these curvy women breathes fresh air into the repetitive roles portrayed in the business. The curvy ladies are finally getting their chance in the spotlight
